The first of many?

395 days to go...

5 and a half years of love have been celebrated with DLC today so I decided what better day to start the wedding countdown blog than on this romantic (and cold as our boiler has decided to die!) day?! Having half anniversaries may seem odd, but it is somehow a tradition that we have fallen into, and to be fair it did mean that DLC bought me two books today, and randomly a film which I think secretly was an anniversary gift to himself. At this point I must confess I didn't actually get DLC anything as we have only just got back from sunning ourselves, so I think he does deserve a portion of brownie points for that.

Well I have been home from the wonderful Cyprus for all of two days and have returned with a new passion and energy for all things wedding related (mostly mine of course!). I have started back on the old healthy eating and exercise as my beautiful wedding dress keeps popping into my head along with scary images of a chubby me trying to squeeze into it - think Jo Brand trying to squeeze into a size 10, works every time. I have also had my mind filled with stationery ideas for the last few weeks so it has been a treat to have my baby back - PHOTOSHOP!

I have been emailing LF quite a bit with ideas for our new business venture which has definitely inspired me to get my bottom (a very white one may I add after hols) in gear with the stationery. I have found a great website which has everything I could ask for and more. I set about making a spreadsheet of rough costings yesterday morning so I could get a realistic idea of what we need and how much it will all cost - eek. Mother and I are off to the Craft Show at the NEC on Sunday so really wanted to get an idea of what other places are charging/offering. A godsend on this site has to be the pocketfold invitations which not only come in the pearlescent card that I am a bit obsessed with, but it also means they come folded and ready to put together. I have had a previous mad idea of buying A3 card and scoring and cutting every invitation myself - I really do like to make work for myself.

Whilst I am on the stationery subject, I have always dreamed of having my wedding invitations arrive in boxes, with the invitation inside wrapped in tissue paper. I just think it is a beautiful and elegant way of presenting the invite and will hopefully give people a feel for how the wedding will be - ha well that's the idea anyway. So on this website I happened to stumble across "White Card Presentation Boxes", exactly the sort of thing I envisaged, AND the wonderful thing is they only come out at 44p a box. I had put this idea to the back of my mind as I decided it would be far too expensive, but as we are only having about 35 day invitations, I think I may stretch our budget by £15 to accommodate these babies. I went onto the Royal Mail website to see how much they would cost to post, and it looks like they would be about 90p to send each first class, which I don't think is too horrendous. Well anyway I have put this item of stationery under the 'desirable' section as I don't actually need them - just really want them!

Funnily enough I was thinking about the chair company that we have ordered our chair covers from a couple of days ago, and then when I logged onto my emails yesterday it turns out I had an email from Nicola. First thoughts turned to slight panic as I thought she was emailing to say she couldn't supply our covers, but it turns out the lovely lass had only been to a wedding fayre at the weekend and had seen a snowflake cake so she had taken a picture of it (might see if I can add a picture on here...) and sent it to me. She apologised if I thought she was mad but to be honest it just reaffirmed my decision to go with her in the first place. I was really rather touched but her thoughtfulness.

With weddings on the brains (to be fair it has been like this for the last 2 years but I am just realising now that thoughts won't come into fruition on their own), I decided to order some rice paper yesterday from this little cake company that I found to conduct a little experiment that I have been cooking up. For some mad reason, I quite like the idea of making my own wedding confetti cones and filling them with white snowflakes. I have this magical moment frozen in my mind and if I'm honest I won't be happy with anything less (especially not that dodgy pink and blue confetti you have to have eurgh!!). I knew the paper would have to be rice paper as it needed to be dissolvable and easily cleaned up. So I found this website selling packs of 12 sheets for only £1.40 so thought I would buy one pack and give it a go. Well they must have super speedy delivery men dispatching their orders as it arrived this morning! I nipped over to Mothers to get the snowflake punches we have already bought and took a deep breath as I stamped my first snowflake...and hurrah it works beautifully. However, I must admit there is a slight downside, it takes FOREVER to punch out a sheet, let alone enough to fill a whole cone. So I figure if I start punching them out now, I may just have enough for our wedding in December...although we may have to push it back by about 10 years.

And on that note I think I am going to round up this first entry as True Blood calls along with a pretty empty bowl of snowflakes that needs to be added to. I may also desend quickly onto my favourite wedding website as I am a bit obsessed with reading this one wedding report - probably where I got the inspiration for this blog from, so thank you total stranger lady who got married.
