Let It Snow?

389 days to go...

Have had another day in bed today but feeling loads better now and eager to get back to work and life! The house has turned into a bit of a tip so will probably need to tackle this soon but now I have a design for the stationery I have ideas blossoming left, right and centre and can't concentrate.

I ordered a load of sample card, paper, pocketfold invites, envelopes and vellum tonight so that I can get an idea of exactly what I need and want and also what colours I will be using in the final designs. The colour swatches have helped me narrow it down but I need to see how things will actually look and create mock ups. Also, some of the colours I like only come in certain sizes etc so I think it will just help me make my final decisions before I start bulk buying everything. I always decided that I wanted to make a mock up of each piece of stationery before I sent the save the dates out - I didn't want to design the save the dates, send them out, then months on do the rest of the stationery and decide that I wanted to change the design!

I started my ribbon mission tonight as well, I already have some ice blue organza ribbon and some satin silver 10mm, but I decided I needed lots more! I found a decent website which was about £2 for 30 metres of 3mm satin ribbon, but then I stumbled onto ebay, and found a brilliant little shop which stocked all sorts of ribbons in the colours I wanted. And the best bit is they come out at just £1.89 plus £2.49 delivery for 91 metres!!! I purchased 5 different reels and should then be getting 50% off delivery which is an added bonus. I didn't go mad and buy reels and reels (although I was tempted!) as I figured if the colours were fine then I could just re-order more as I am sure they will continue stocking them for a while.

Another stationery delight that I came up with tonight, is the linings for the envelopes. I haven't made a final decision on envelope sizes yet (have ordered a few different styles so hoping that will push me into a decision!) but I always knew I wanted to make the envelopes look special. For starters, I am going to have all the addresses typed, and possibly add a H&D seal on the back! SisH also came up with the cutest idea for the RSVP envelopes - she suggested adding a stamp image onto the envelope with our monogram and the words "Please affix stamp here" - I thought it was a fab idea so will definitely be trying it out! Anyways, I digress (as always), so I did a quick mock up of a C6 envelope and created a matching lining for it with the snowflake design and our monogram with our wedding date on. I know it is extra stress and time to the whole stationery process, but I love things to look pretty and personal, and to be honest I like the idea of being able to keep everything in a keepsake box for us to look back over in years to come.

Here is a VERY rough mock up (I used yellow paper for the envelope just so I could see the white lining, the final envelopes will be a pearlescent colour), I think I would need to print the liner on thinner paper though as it does make the envelope a bit thick.

I have also started doing designs for the place cards and tags that I will be adding to the favours and confetti cones. I can't wait to see the whole finished range!

Another idea that has been sat in the back of my mind is I want to try and source wooden letters with the words "Let it snow" on - I thought they would look really pretty on the fireplace in the room where we are having our ceremony and wedding breakfast. I imagine them surrounded with candles and the lovely glow from the reflection in the mirror. I thought it would be a nice sentiment to keep them and bring them out every Christmas. So far I have found one set from this company and they seem to be pearlescent which would make them super sparkly! However they are £40, which although isn't a massive amount, is making me think twice about snapping them up. Maybe Santa will drop them down the chimney this Christmas?!

I also came across this idea which is really simple as the snowflakes are actually made from paper. Looks pretty but also very cost effective!

Think that is all my wedding progress for the day! I seem to have gone into overdrive at the moment and sleep, dream, walk stationery. I think once I start making good head way with it all I will start to return to normal - I hope.
